Plamore Park
Plamore Park was aging and losing its visitors to newer parks in the Fond du Lac area. With a sizable lot and an excellent location, the park was destined for greater things.
The Miracle League of Fond du Lac proposed the idea of creating a park that would be accessible to all people with varying abilities. The city council approved the recreation complex in 2017, and the league began fundraising.
Excel worked with the league and the city to design a complex with three main components: a custom-designed baseball field, a barrier-free rubberized surface playground, and a multi-purpose sports area. The baseball field has a cushioned rubberized surface to allow players with wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility devices to move safely from base to base. The design also includes wheelchair-accessible dugouts, wide walkways, a parking lot, a sheltered concession stand with specialized seating, accessible family restrooms, a scoreboard, bleacher seating, and a water retention pond.
